Allergies and dietary requirements

All meals are Halal and we do not serve pork in the Primary academy. There is always a vegetarian option available and dietary requirements, such as a vegan menu, can be provided. Nuts are not included on the menu and all precautions are taken to reduce nut products however we cannot guarantee the Academy is nut free.

When preparing over 2000 meals in the Academy daily it is so important that allergies are identified correctly, and special menus are produced to ensure the safety of our students. Depending on the child’s allergy or dietary requirement there maybe an Allergy Aware menu allocated to the child or a bespoke menu. These will be shared with parents to ensure they are appropriate for the child.

If your child has an allergy, please complete the Pupil Allergen Form and submit it to the school office along with medical evidence confirming your child’s allergy. This can include an Allergy Action plan, doctors’ letter etc. We will then work with Innovate to produce a suitable menu. In the meantime your child may only receive an allergy assured school meal to ensure their safety.

If your child will be attending wraparound please also let the wraparound team know about any allergy or dietary requirement.

Packed lunch guidance

We encourage all children to eat school lunches as they provide an affordable, easy option for parents as well as a well-balanced diet with great variety. However, parents of pupils wishing to have packed lunches are required to provide their children with a lunch that is healthy, balanced and strictly nut free. This is to ensure we continue to meet our status as a Healthy School, encouraging children to have a varied and balanced diet, as well as to ensure the safety of all children with food allergies and intolerances.

Action for Children recommend a healthy and balanced packed lunch includes foods from the following groups:Nursery meals
